BIO
Marine artist, Hollace Kutay, creates vivid images in bright, captivating acrylic colors. The flavor of her work is influenced by the century’s old Australian Aboriginal painting style to which she was exposed while attending an art workshop on Grand Cayman Island. Drawing inspiration from the Caribbean underwater world, against tranquil aqua-marine backgrounds, or fiery red hues, Hollace’s creations of tropical fish and other sea creatures are mesmerizing in their vibrancy and passion.
Hollace is a seasonal resident of Grand Cayman Island where she has lived in West Bay since 2003, close to Boatswain’s Beach and the Turtle Farm. Her enjoyment and affinity for the seascapes of this tropical paradise breathes life into every painting.
Despite her youth, Hollace is deeply committed to the environment, and relishes her opportunity to share her fondness for Grand Cayman with everyone who enjoys her art.
“In painting what I have discovered in this magical place, through my art, I can share my experiences with people who may never be so fortunate as to live on a tropical island. Each painting I create reminds me of how lucky I am to be able to express myself in this unique way. Painting allows me both to use my imagination and to remember what I never want to forget.”
Hollace’s work is on exhibit, and for sale, in multiple Grand Cayman fine art galleries. In the United States, where she lives in Pennsylvania during the academic school year, Hollace has been recognized as a young artist of promise, achieving a Gold Key award — the highest level of recognition — at the most recent nationwide 2008 Scholastic Art Competition.
